Matthew Barney is my favorite video artist. He's so fucking weird, but puts (obviously) so much effort into his work. I'm talking about some seriuos detail-mongering. The surprising thing about his work is just how cohesive it seems, considering the bizarre associations he ends up making. Maddeningly oblique, but so damn evocative...plus, he played football at Yale, which is funny. Oh - he lives in Iowa...I wonder what his neighbors think...
