I am glad to be back in Portland. Tour was a great success but is over.
I recommend to you the music of James Coleman and the undr quartet unqualifyingly. James was our host in Boston and is a rillygood thereminist. Also of note: the artwork of Joe Brainard, who I hadn't heard of until I saw his work at PS1 in a well-rounded exhibition.
We met and played with so many good players and people. It seems that the people concerned with this music are all incredibly warm, kind folks. Among them: Davu Seru, Andrew Lafkas, Greg Kelley, Matt Weston, Joe Tomino, Dave Gross, Jeremy Bleich, Soo-Jung Kae, George Donchev, Tom Plsek, Jack Wright.
In addition, we visited Anthony Braxton at Wesleyan. His teaching techniques really resonated with me. I was more than impressed with his pedagogy, his soprano sax playing, and his warm and affable manner.
