The trio played last night at Mizpah. We opened for the brilliant Amy DeNio who played accordian and sang, incorporating extended techniques and eastern european folk elements. She was not only spellbinding in performance but was great to speak with. She even led some audience participation.
After her set, she invited us to improvise with her, which was a damn treat.
Also a girl's hair caught on fire while we were playing. she was ok.
Today, Bryan Eubanks and I played at a reception for Alvin Lucier[!] at Reed College. John Krausbauer performed solo, as well. Mr. Lucier is affable and charming, and spoke eloquently and passionately about his work and the work of people he is associated with (Cage, Cunningham, Mumma, Wolff among them). He spoke about his teaching experiences, too, and I bet he's an amazing teacher.[his bio]
