Open Mic Nights are a great venue for free music. More often than not, the audience at open mic night doesn't even know this kind of music exists, so I feel like it's not just fun but it's a small service to the players who have gone before, and yes, paved the way. The Trio played at the Laurelthirst last night with drummer Nick Skrowaczewski (yes, son of _____). We were a bit aggressive, responding to the loud drunk audience. Nick fell right in (on a borrowed drumkit no less) and acquitted himself with aplomb.
