Peevish played at an 'anarchist cafe' recently, performing simultaneously with Uneasy for some real-time sweaty anarchy. The confusion and discomfort we caused (without high volume) made me think of something. Why the fuck is it that 'radical' activists and artists and dancers don't get down with modern/radical music? I can't tell you how often I've seen abstract/modern dance ('movement for its own sake, sans narrative' eh wot) accompanied by saccharine neo-classical strings or smugly orientalist raga-remixes! Even Paul Perry has confessed his love for cheesydream-pop. People: stop marching. I don't care what the guy from Rage Against the Machine or Radiohead is saying, the beat is a march and it is telling us to march with it. [or perhaps I'm just all fired up: Interstellar Space is filling my house with 'the-opposite-of-marching' right now and damn it's a fine thing]
