Whoa - if you have a good printer, print this .pdf of Empire by Michael Hardt and Antonio "Tony" Negri. It's an entire book so it's a long print job and I'm at work and can't get away with it...drat. I've perused it and can recommend it anyway though I try not to make too many comments on stuff I don't really know. Also: Negri has been exiled and is currently imprisoned in Rome for his activities. Here's an article about Empire (but not a very informative one - read the .pdf suckas).

Unrelated: a kindly music listener palmed me an illicit copy of Natsuki Tamura's Song for Jyaki, solo trumpet (one song is called, brilliantly, "Blues for Me"). He plays lyrically but with extensive use of very extended technique. Parts are reminiscent of Bill Dixon, parts Greg Kelley. He makes many of the sounds that I make, but not all. In some ways he reminds me of the NYC hipster recombinant-jazzers in the way that he makes relatively 'inside' material sound 'out.' I really haven't heard enough brass players working in this vein. Tamura was in Portland recently with the Satoko Fujii Orchestra which I missed ($12, I'm dog broke mangs).
