I played last night at the Tug Boat with Gust Burns, who is a piano player from Seattle. He is very very responsive, harmonically intriguing, and good to be around. It was a successful night - started out with a quintet: the trio, Mark Kaylor, and Gust for a 1 hour set. Then Gust played duets with each of us (well, he played a trio with me & Tim DuRoche) for the second set to close out the evening. Great music, great audience. Second best bartender in Portland. Playing with Gust was a real treat - previously the only free pianists I'd played with have been Ezra and Soo-Jung Kae (who are both wonderful, but, add Gust and all 3 are incredibly different from one another).
By the way: I'm moving to Korea for a while on July 1. An adventure awaits (as does Lilly!)
